Riding the future: Dubai’s public transport hits new highs
DUBAI’s public transport network recorded a significant rise in usage during the first half of 2025, with 395.3 million riders using various transit modes – a 9% increase from the same period in 2024.
The average daily ridership reached nearly 2.18 million.
The Dubai Metro accounted for the largest share at 36.5%, followed by taxis (26%) and public buses (24%).
Marine transport served 9.7 million riders, while Dubai Tram and shared mobility services saw 4.9 million and 37.6 million users respectively.
The highest monthly ridership was recorded in May, with 68.8 million trips.
Key developments include the ongoing construction of the 30km Metro Blue Line, expansion of the bus fleet with 637 low-emission and electric buses, and enhanced integration across all transport modes to support Dubai’s goal of achieving 25% public and shared transport share by 2030.
